The Chairman of Manchester City, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, has spoken at length about City’s recent season and taken a look to the future – which he describes as being "very exciting and very entertaining" and that more trophies are on the horizon.
He said Manchester City owner, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs is always involved with the major decisions from the very start and that everyone is highly confident the club is going in the right direction.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "We are truly going in a direction that is positive and we are very excited about how we are developing as a team. Pep Guardiola has taken the squad and started going through that natural cycle of development.
"I have high confidence that we are going in the right direction. We are playing, and you have seen many glimpses of that, a type of football that is very exciting and that is very entertaining and which the fans will grow to love. The results will come – I have no doubt the results will come."
The Chairman recognised the season had been "disappointing" in terms of not winning a trophy but that there is a focus on the new young players the club has signed to change that.
Manchester City FC has, once again, qualified for the UEFA Champions League with a third place finish in the English Premier League.
However, he added: "There is nothing more annoying than being congratulated on third I have to say that. I would like to be only congratulated on winning the league."
When it comes to new player signings, Manchester City has already added Bernardo Silva from Monaco and Khaldoon Al Mubarak said they have a clear direction on other new recruits.
Al Mubarak continued to say: "That area is a continuous conversation with H.H. Sheikh Mansour and is always ongoing."
