Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has received Ludovic Pouille, French Ambassador to the UAE, on a visit on assuming his new position. The meeting was attended by Majdi Abed, Consul-General in Dubai and the Northern Regions.
The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and Ahmed Abdulla, Senior Manager of External Communications.
Al Tayer welcomed the new French Ambassador, and wished him every success in his diplomatic mission. He reiterated DEWA’s desire to strengthen cooperation with all diplomatic and Consular missions in the UAE.
Al Tayer reviewed the UAE's pioneering and innovative initiatives to achieve the vision of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who launched the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to generate 7 percent of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2020, 25 percent by 2030 and 75 percent by 2050.
Al Tayer also talked about His Highness's directives constituting a roadmap for DEWA’s ambitious initiatives and development projects, promoting sustainability, creating a community of happiness, and meeting the aspirations of Dubai’s citizens and residents. This contributes to achieving DEWA’s vision of becoming a sustainable innovative world-class utility.
The two parties highlighted the importance of cooperation between DEWA and French energy institutions and companies. They confirmed that relations between them have resulted in fruitful co-operation in several areas. In addition, it was agreed to organise a meeting to bring together French energy companies and DEWA, to strengthen bilateral relations.
The delegation commended DEWA’s efforts to establish Dubai as a hub for the green economy, and promote its leadership in various fields of energy. The delegation expressed its interest in participating in DEWA projects, and sharing best practices and experiences in clean energy to promote sustainable development in Dubai.
