The Ministry of Finance, MoF, has launched its new eCloud service technology for the financial and human resources, HR, systems of federal entities, in collaboration with the Federal Authority of Human Resources, FAHR, and Oracle International, during its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2017.
The new technology will provide a secure IT infrastructure with minimal intervention from operators and system administrators.
The eCloud service is a portal that will enable other federal entities to access HR resources and financial systems training through customised profiles, enhancing the efficiency and security of the IT infrastructure across the federal government.
The eCloud technology will also reduce annual government spending by AED 1.6 million. So far in 2017, the technology has helped to achieve a 25 percent reduction in operational costs, and a further reduction of 45 percent is expected in 2019. All federal entities can request its services from the MoF through eCloud, without any interference from the service’s technical team.
Mariam Mohammad Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Management of Financial Resources, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to continuously implement the latest practices to lead the country’s digital transformation, reflecting the initiative of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform the government from an e-government to a smart government. These steps are being taken to enhance services while tailoring them to meet the needs and requirements of customers, she added.
"The ministry has adopted this technology in record time, to offer federal entities several resources to achieve their business requirements," Al Amiri explained.
"The Ministry of Finance prioritises the best interests of its customers through launching new projects and initiatives, and the eCloud technology is a significant addition to its range of services. We also continuously seek to develop digital technologies based on ambitious innovative programmes, to achieve the wise leadership’s vision of making the UAE among the most competitive countries in the world," she further added.
GITEX Technology Week is one of the most prominent ICT exhibitions in the MENA region, and is being held this year under the theme, "Re-Imagining Realities: Discover, Transform and Innovate." GITEX will also witness the participation of local, regional and global companies, to showcase their most innovative technologies.
