Ramallah - Arab Today

The Palestinian government has called on the Arab and Muslim worlds to live up to their responsibilities in supporting residents of Al Quds, who are protecting the holy Mosque of Al Aqsa.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ramy al Hamdellah Tuesday urged Arabs and Muslims to visit Al Quds and, if they can, stay at Al Aqsa Mosque.

Marking the 49th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the Palestinian government praised the struggle of the Palestinian people against this occupation that is getting tougher by the day.

Hamdellah insisted that the conflict with Israel could only end with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 lands, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian premier also voiced appreciation for French efforts to support the peace process, noting that Israel's rejection of the French initiative and its violation of international legitimacy resolutions would put an end to a two-state solution and would pave the way for a two-regime state.

He urged Paris to continue its efforts to hold an international peace conference to end the Israeli occupation and reach the two-state solution according to a strict timetable.
