HE President of Saudi Arabia's Human Rights Commission Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al Aiban expressed thanks and appreciation to HH the Emir, government and people of the State of Qatar for holding the "International Conference on Human Rights Approach to Conflict Situations in the Arab Region" at a time when the region is facing many conflicts and in urgent need for concerted efforts in order to address human rights violations.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the Conference which kicked off in Doha Monday, Dr. Al Aiban noted that the conference is held at a time when the Arab world is the center of many conflicts, something that requires the cooperation of all parties involved to quell human rights violations.
He said that Qatar's hosting of the such an important event reflected the country's commitment to standing up to human rights violations in conflict-stricken areas.
He added that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani's opening of the Conference affirmed Qatar's commitment to human rights.
He believed that the topics which will be discussed during the two-day Conference will contribute to strengthening cooperation among countries and regional and international organizations in stopping human rights violations.
