Doha - Arab Today

Qatar has hosted the 55th executive council meeting of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI).
The two-day meeting was hosted by the State Audit Bureau of Qatar, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
President of State Audit Bureau of Qatar and second deputy president for the executive council of ARABOSAI Shaikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani stressed during the meeting the importance of strengthening the governance of the higher Arab authorities for financial supervision and auditing, and working on ensuring independent and effective public sector supervision, in addition to building the institutional capacity of these bodies to improve their role in the development in the Arab countries.
He pointed out that the meeting came out with several recommendations to enhance cooperation between the different Arab supervision bodies, including training and exchange of knowledge and expertise to upgrade the work of these authorities. On the sidelines of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding between Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions and the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) was signed.
The MoU aims at strengthening and cementing cooperation between the two organizations in exchanging knowledge and experiences, developing cooperative initiatives and keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field of supervision and professional standards. It also establishes regular cooperation between the two organizations for the benefit of their members and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in general, QNA reported.
