President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, Wednesday issued a Republican Decree dismissing the death penalty from 259 convicts of rebel movements who have involved in a number of clashes against the Armed Forces.
The Republican Decree also dropped the death penalty punishments that were issued against 44 rebel convicts in Omdurman incidents, 18 convicts in Donki Al-Baasheem battle and four convicts in Kulbus battle.
The Republican Decision also pardoned 12 accused persons in Fanga battle and 181 convicts in Goz Dango battle.
It is to be recalled that the Republican Decision was issued in compliance with the national accord spirit and to pave the way for achieving durable peace in the current stage that has witnessed consensus on the recommendations of the national dialogue and the National Document.
