The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has issued a royal order to grant driving licences to men and women alike under the provisions of the Traffic Law and its Executive Regulations. A high-level committee will study the necessary arrangements for the application of the order.
The royal order will come into force on Shawwal 10, 1439 (June 24, 2018), the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
In the order, King Salman directed the Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud to set up a high-level ministerial committee comprising representatives from the ministries of interior, finance, and labour and social development to carry out studies about the necessary arrangements for the application of the new provisions in line with the Shariah and legal regulations.
