The Saudi Geological Survey, SGS, said that seismic monitoring stations of its National Centre for Seismology and Volcanology recorded today an earthquake measuring 3 on Richter scale.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that according to the SGS official spokesman Tariq Aba Al-Khalil, the tremor occurred on the Red Sea Opening Axis, west of Jeddah city, at a distance of 91 kilometers.
He stressed that the quake was not felt in any of the coastal cities near the earthquake because of its weakness, reassuring Saudi citizens and residents that the seismic situation is stable in the region.
