Sharjah - Arab Today

The Sharjah Government Media Bureau, SGMB, today launched a series of workshops on social media management with the participation of managers of official social media accounts from 62 Sharjah government entities.

The workshops come as part of the SGMB’s efforts to support government entities on various media fields and in implementation of the Sharjah Executive Council, SEC, Resolution No. 01 of 2017 on the regulation of the use of social media by government entities and employees. A guide for social media use was released earlier by the SEC and distributed to heads and directors general of all government bodies in the emirate.

The workshop series comprises of four two-day workshops across the month of September, and will include a number of creative skills that deal with new media aspects. It also aims to develop the electronic content of official bodies, and develop the skills of officials.

Today’s workshop saw the participation of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq, Sharjah Media Corporation, Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah Airport Free Zone Authority, Sharjah City Municipality, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, Sharjah Urban Planning Council, Sharjah Museums Department, Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority.

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of SGMB, said that the workshops reflect SGMB’s commitment and keenness to cooperate with different government bodies in Sharjah towards promoting the emirate’s media experience, and keeping up with the latest development in the media landscape.
