Smart Dubai launches Smart Decision-Making Platform
Dubai - Arab Today

Smart Dubai has launched a Smart Decision-Making Platform at the GITEX Technology Week 2017, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 8th to 12th October.

The new platform relies on Dubai Pulse, the Smart Dubai data aggregator, which forms the backbone of the city’s transition into advanced smart technologies. Visitors can visualise the data through an "immersive room" that offers them a glimpse into the future of Dubai.

Titled "Future, Live," the room allows visitors to visualise live, city-wide data, making Dubai the first city in the world to share its real-time live data with the public, along with projections of the progress that is in the pipeline for the coming decade. A team of data scientists, designers and programmers, as well as various government entities, joined hands to custom build the innovative digital infrastructure for the display.

The unique and engaging interface was created using data mined from hundreds of thousands of data points around the city. It projects layers of information that provide visitors with unprecedented insights into Dubai’s smart city transformation and the many technologies, projects and initiatives rolled out by Smart Dubai and its affiliate organisations and partners to build the city of the future.

Speaking about the platform, Dr. Aisha bint Butti bin Bishr, Director-General of the Smart Dubai Office, said, "Smart Dubai always puts people first in all of its initiatives. We have been working tirelessly to bring all of Dubai’s smart city services to life, and to use the extensive data that we have amassed to cater to each citizen, resident and visitor in the emirate. Our display today at the GITEX Technology Week offers visitors a glimpse into the future. The live interactive show feeds off of Dubai Pulse’s treasure trove of city-wide data, offering scenarios with three realistic characters reflecting actual residents of Dubai.

"Visitors to our stand this year are in for a truly singular experience as they will be able to visualise our years of work in terms of data collection and storage. The data not only reveals Dubai’s exponentially rapid progress which attests to the success of our efforts and, more importantly, to the soundness of our wise leadership’s vision but also offers a glimpse of where we are headed. Visitors to the ‘Future, Live’ show can have a look at the city of the future we are working to build here in Dubai, in collaboration with government entities, private companies and academic institutions."

The City Planner feature of the immersive room generates a real-time map, where visitors can view approximately 500,071 new developments across the city. The Entrepreneur feature, meanwhile, generates data based on estimates that Dubai will host as many as 200 million people by 2050, creating an increased demand for commerce that will provide the opportunity for businesses to expand. Finally, the City Resident feature seeks to make residents’ lives easier by inviting visitors to explore how they can use city data to make an informed hypothetical decision to move homes with their family.
