Rich tributes were paid to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend Bahrain's security and stability, protect citizens and residents and safeguard their properties.
Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi hailed the heroes’ valour and heroic stances in confronting extremist and terrorist organisations and staving off their threats to the security of the Arabian Gulf.
He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for designating December 17 as a Commemoration Day in remembrance of the policemen and BDF servicemen who fell in the line of duty defending the country’s security, stability, progress and prosperity.
“The sacrifices of our heroic soldiers have always been valued by the wise leadership and all the people of Bahrain," he said, adding that their sacrifices will remain engraved in the memory of the homeland, Arab and Islamic nations.
Al-Romaihi hailed the strenuous efforts exerted by the security and military agencies to confront the acts of violence, sabotage and terrorism, lauding their honourable participation in the Arab ad Islamic Alliance to defend the legitimate rule in Yemen and combat terrorist organizations.
In a statement on the eve of the Commemoration Day, the minister prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the souls of the martyrs of duty in eternal peace and give their families solace and fortitude.
“The Commemoration Day holds a highly historical significance and shows that the leadership, government and people of Bahrain never forget the sacrifices of its heroes who fell in the line of duty," he said, paying tribute to the staff of the BDF, Interior Ministry and National Guard who gave their lives, in defence of their religion, homeland, the Arab identity and humanity.
