Dr. Thomas Walsh, Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation, UPF, has named Hamad Saeed Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Lebanon, as an 'Ambassador for Peace', during a conference organised by the UPF at the Venetia Hotel in Beirut, which was attended by many members of parliaments of European and Arab countries.
The honour is awarded to figures who have devoted their lives to serve others, especially on humanitarian and development levels, as well as to protect universal ethics, family cohesion, mutual cooperation, international harmony, and to promote the role of the media in strengthening and disseminating the culture of peace.
The New York-based UPF is active in promoting the culture of peace, as well as supporting and strengthening the work of activists and highlighting their role and influence in social and community building, in a world facing the challenges of extremism and terrorism.
