U.N. Security Council (UNSC) will today hold an emergency meeting on North Korea’s nuclear programme, following the country’s sixth test.
Scheduled after Pyongyang said it had conducted a hydrogen bomb underground Sunday, the emergency session comes six days after the UNSC strongly condemned Pyongyang's "outrageous" launch of a ballistic missile over Japan.
Less than a month ago, the council imposed its stiffest sanctions so far on North Korea.
Monday’s emergency meeting was requested by the United States, Japan, France, Britain and South Korea, and is expected bring additional condemnation and discussion of other potential steps
