The Zayed Giving Convoys, which is run by an Emirati, Saudi and Egyptian volunteer medical team led by Emirati surgeon Dr. Adel Al Shameri, have resumed their humanitarian mission in villages in Egypt by treating hundreds of needy children and elderly patients.
The organisation of the humanitarian medical mission falls within the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declaring 2017 as the #Year of Giving. It is also part of a humanitarian millennial giving campaign and a joint programme of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity House and the Saudi-German Hospitals Group, in co-ordination with many local authorities.
Dr. Reem Othman, Ambassador of Humanitarian Work, expressed her happiness at the many international successes of the Zayed Giving Convoys, while adding that they have eased the suffering of millions of people through their volunteering and humanitarian activities. Humanitarian work has become a way of life in the UAE, reflecting the noble human values and civilised behaviour inherited from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE, she added.
She also stated that the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has closely followed Sheikh Zayed’s legacy.
Khalid Al Khayyal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Charity House, stressed that the Zayed Giving Convoys will continue their humanitarian projects in Egyptian villages, to ease the suffering of underprivileged people and strengthen the culture of volunteer work and humanitarian giving, without discrimination in terms of race or gender.
The Egyptian surgeon and member of the volunteer medical team, Prof. Morsi Amin from Suez Canal University, praised the Zayed Giving Initiative and its support for the caravans by enabling the team to provide treatment, surgery and preventive services to needy people.
