Zamalek coach Mohamed Helmi told his decision to step down from his post, to a member of the board, Hani Zadeh, when the white team was in Nigeria after the Nigerian Rangers match in the African Champions League.
Helmi explained that he is taking this step to lift the embarrassment on the board of directors, pointing out that he is ready to leave at any time, adding that he will not work in the position of general coach with a foreign coach. He pointed out that he loves Zamalek but his dignity is more important, and he announced before that is always present to serve the club.
President of Zamalek Mortada Mansour had previously announced that the Whites were looking for a foreigner to replace Helmy as manager, following a string of disappointing results in the Egyptian Premier League.
Board member Ahmed Mortada Mansour stressed that the French coach Alain Grace is the most prominent candidate to lead the team.
