A three-team Major League Baseball trade deal announced Wednesday will see All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier move from the Cincinnati Reds to the Chicago White Sox while the Los Angeles Dodgers land three players.
Frazier, twice an All-Star, has smashed 64 home runs over the past two seasons while hitting .264 and stealing 33 bases.
Under terms of the deal, the White Sox will send pitcher Frankie Montas, second baseman Micah Johnson and outfielder Trayce Thompson to the Dodgers, who will pass along second baseman Jose Peraza, outfielder Scott Schebler and second baseman/outfielder Brandon Dixon to the Reds.
All but Peraza were rated among the top 15 developmental prospects for their respective teams.
Each team is trying to shake up its roster from last season. The White Sox went 76-86, 19 games behind American League Central division champion and eventual World Series winner Kansas City.
The Reds went 64-98, one game ahead of Philadelphia for the worst record in the major leagues. The Dodgers were 92-70 and won the National League West division but lost out to the eventual league champion New York Mets.
