SalamAir, the first low cost air carrier in the Sultanate yesterday launched its first direct flight to Sialkot in Pakistan.

This will be followed by the launch of direct flights to Multan on May 23.

The company will operate three flights weekly to both destinations. “The flights come within SalamAir endeavors to add new destinations to its growing network,” said a statement issued by the company.

Eng. Khalid Al Yahmadi, CEO, SalamAir said that the new flights open new horizons for the Omani business community as it will help them benefit from the attractive investment opportunity in the Sultanate and review the development plans.

François Bouteiller, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SalamAir said “Sialkot and Multan of Pakistan are known for their dense population which are underutilised till date, especially there are more than 220,000 Pakistanis residing in the Sultanate.

Rising passenger traffic

He pointed out that the launch of flights to these two cities will contribute to increasing passenger traffic to and from Pakistan.

The move will also benefit from the connection services in Jeddah and Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar.

He noted that the next state of the expansion plan includes operating flights to Karachi of Pakistan, in addition to adding a number of seasonal flight to the company schedules.

SalamAir will also launch flights to Taif in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and will also increase its flights to Medina during the blessed Ramadan to meet the need of Umrah performers. The company plans also to increase the number of flights to Salalah during Khareef season.
