The Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge, the White House, among others, are on the bucket list of many, and a new research will tell you where to go to save bucks.

The research, conducted by U.K. Post, showed the cost of visiting the 10 most popular U.S. cities, and the result holds a few surprises.

Taking into consideration 11 holiday expenses including transportation, accommodation, meals and sightseeing, Washington D.C. comes out as the cheapest city to visit, as a three-night stay before November costs 2,340 U.S. dollars.

New York City, Philly, Miami, and Las Vegas come in second to fifth, with San Francisco, Boston, New Orleans, Austin and Chicago trailing behind.

Air tickets and accommodation make the chunk of the costs. If excluded, Austin would will be cheapest with 541 dollars, followed by New Orleans and New York. Miami with its sea-view resorts and sandy beaches, will be the most expensive.

Andrew Brown of U.K. Post, said hotel and flight costs can vary by hundreds of dollars, advising holidaymakers to do thorough homework before visiting for the good of their purse.
