Egypt is in a state of turmoil regarding the subject of allowing employees of NGOs operating with no permit to work in Egypt. These have been tried and sentenced to deportation. This decision drove a wedge between the judges and the lawyers; between the cabinet, the People’s Council and the Shura Council; and between the citizens and all the aforementioned parties as well as the Military Council. The latter had tried to distance itself from the problem. The Egyptian appeal attorneys are even calling for revoking the appointment of the court’s original president, Counselor Abdel-Moez Ibrahim. We all know that Egypt is against the American politics in the Middle East. However, the Israeli lobby, the other American Likud supporters, and the neo-conservatives cannot say that. Instead, they are attacking Mrs. Fayza Aboul-Naja, the Egyptian minister of planning and international cooperation, as if she had invented the problem from scratch. Egypt is a bureaucratic country. It had been quasi independent, then gained its independence since more than 200 years ago, i.e. since Napoleon fled in the night in 1799. Quite simply, the problem is that there are dozens of civil organizations, five of which are American, that have been operating without permits in Egypt and were thus subjected to legal investigation. The American Administration is “volunteering” to announce that it is financing these illegitimate organizations. As for the Egyptians’ feelings, these are plastered all over the country’s media outlets. Al-Ahram said that the foreign financing “aims at stirring religious and racial sedition.” Our sister, Fayza Aboul-Naja, had been subjected to a campaign a month ago for criticizing David Kramer, the executive director of Freedom House. I had exposed the details of that campaign through this column yesterday. Thus, I will stick to Al-Ahram, which quoted the man in charge of the investigations on this issue, who expressed his point of view concerning the Freedom House institution. He said: “It aims at creating a state of lack of trust among the citizens and at inciting against the state and its institutions through all the possible means…in addition to monitoring the social and humanitarian situation of the Copts and Nubians in the country and working on raising their problems and issues in order to serve its personal goals, mainly stirring religious and racial sedition and pushing the citizens to call for partitioning the country…” This was only one example and many others can be found in the Egyptian media. There is enough material to write a book. However, only a few paragraphs can be written in a daily column. Thus I say that the CIA established fictitious organizations in the fifties and the sixties in order to fight communism. During the term of Ronald Reagan in the eighties, the Congress established the National Endowment for Democracy, which funds the following American organizations in Egypt and that are accused of receiving an American financing: the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute, Freedom House, the (American) International Press Institute. I will dismiss the International Republican and the National Democratic Institutes as well as the Press Institute and I will only focus on Freedom House following its director’s response to the Egyptian minister. In recent years, Freedom House turned into the stronghold of the neo-conservatives and the Israeli lobby and its gang. In order to learn its directions, it is sufficient to know that its board of trustees included Thomas Dane who came there after having occupied the post of executive director for the AIPAC and the Israeli lobby. There is also Kenneth Idleman who had claimed in 2002 that war against Iraq will be a picnic. Then, a month following the occupation of Iraq in 2003, he said that the ease of toppling Saddam Hussein proved the veracity of his earlier point of view. Then, he apologized and took back what he had said in late 2006 when the Resistance and terrorism had wrecked the dreams of the Israeli gang. I don’t know much about David Kramer, the current executive director of Freedom House. However, I have read that he was a major participant in the “New American Century” project, which was initiated in 1997 by the filthiest of Israeli supporters and the enemies of the Arabs and the Muslims. It was headed by William Kristol, the gang’s godfather following Irving. Through a letter sent to Bill Clinton, this project had called for a war against Iraq in 26/1/1998. It then attacked Clinton for failing to respond and called for war against Iraq through another letter sent to George Bush on 20/9/2010 following the well-known act of terrorism and the targeting of Hezbollah. I did not spot the name of David Kramer amongst those who signed the two letters. He was probably not a major player in that project. But I tell him something that the Americans are well aware of: tell me who your friends are, I tell you who you are. The neo-conservatives, the Israeli lobby, and the other radicals played a part in America’s failed wars where one million Arabs and Muslims were killed. The killings are still ongoing and the Israel that they are defending is a terrorist, fascist, and occupying entity in the land of Palestine. It is not democratic as per the claims of Freedom House through its annual reports. Then there is our sister, Fayza Aboul-Naja and all the Egyptian people.
