Ayoon Wa Azan (No peace with Netanyahu)

President Barack Obama is set to visit Israel on the 20th of March, or around that date. Before that, Benjamin Netanyahu is supposed to have formed a new criminal gang to act as the third government to be led by him. Talks between the Likud-Yisrael Beiteinu alliance and other political parties are at a standstill. Yesh Atid and the Jewish Home Party have both set a condition for accepting the Haredi parties to join the government, namely that mandatory military service is extended to all Israelis, including Haredi Jews who usually dodge military service on the grounds of their religious studies. The two parties have now established an alliance against Netanyahu, perhaps to impose their positions on him. Most likely, Netanyahu will succeed in the end and form another extremist-fascist government that would go on to receive the U.S. president – along with 600 officials and 100 reporters as I read. There is only one issue in the Middle East, and it is at the heart of all other issues: the Palestinian cause. While I am certain about President Obama’s desire to find a solution where every U.S. president before him for 80 years failed, so that this may be his political legacy, I am not optimistic given the gang of war criminals – not government – at the top of the Israeli political hierarchy. The new U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry took office in Foggy Bottom on Monday, February 4, and preceded this by phoning several world leaders, including Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Kerry is supposed to present Obama with a new plan to revive peace talks in the Middle East, but this is tantamount to a biblical miracle in a time of no miracles. I found myself agreeing with foreign and Arab officials and observers, who said that President Obama will put pressure on Netanyahu to join U.S. efforts to reach an agreement through diplomatic means with Iran, to halt its military nuclear program – if that really exists. Netanyahu had stated more than once that the spring will be a crucial time for the Iranian military nuclear program. So the timing of Obama’s visit before spring was not chosen haphazardly, since he is seeking to preempt any Israeli military action against Iran that would open the gates of hell across the whole region. The war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu may indeed accommodate President Obama over the Iranian issue. He knows full well that Israel alone cannot destroy the Iranian nuclear program, and may only disrupt it for a year or two, after which Iran would resume its plans and no doubt pursue a nuclear weapon. However, Obama will not offer something that could open the door to the resumption of the peace process. For one thing, Netanyahu’s previous and upcoming governments were and will be a gang of crime, occupation, murder and destruction with which peace is simply impossible. I have two news stories from or about Israel, and I urge the readers to compare between them to realize the true nature of the occupation state. The first story involves Ben Zygier, a Mossad agent involved in the killing of Palestinian Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai on 19/1/2010. He was placed in solitary confinement after that, for fear that he may expose the secrets of Mossad’s terrorism to the government of Australia or the media there, as he was of Australian origin and held Australian citizenship along with that of Israel. The Netanyahu government tried to suppress the news on Zygier, who was known as Prisoner X, before the story broke out around the world after he “committed suicide.” This suicide could have been either real, or in the Syrian style. The second involves the New York-based Human Rights Watch, which published a comprehensive report on Israel's war on the Gaza Strip in November. The report mentioned that Israel violated the laws of war, and launched 14 air strikes including by drones on civilian targets in the Gaza Strip which killed 43 civilians, including 12 children. The details are frightening. For instance, a home was bombed and a man inside was killed along with two children aged four and two, while the mother and six other children were injured. Yet the whole world is focused on a spy who was killed or who killed himself, deservedly, while overlooking the collective murder of Palestinian children. I say again, no peace is possible with the government of war criminals in Israel today or any day. --- The views expressed by the author do not necessarily represent or reflect the editorial policy of Arabstoday.
