The 2nd UAE Women Voluntary Forum was launched at the UAE University, UAEU, in Al Ain.
The forum was organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, under the title, "We are All Mother Fatima."
The event aims to enhance a culture of voluntary work and giving, develop the leadership potential of young Emirati women, and acquire skills in managing volunteer youth teams, locally and internationally. This is in line with the directives of the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative announced by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Voluntary Initiative, under the supervision of the GWU.
The Forum included a documentary film about the Zayed Giving Initiative and its pioneering role in the field of volunteering and global humanitarian work. It also reviewed the initiatives of the Fatima bint Mubarak Volunteering Programme, which has contributed notably in enhancing the volunteering movement of women and children, locally and globally.
The event also shed light on the Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign, which in a short period, has been able to attract and qualify the best young volunteer cadres. It has enabled them to alleviate the suffering of needy patients in various countries to contribute effectively in finding realistic solutions to the health problems of women and children under a voluntary framework and humanitarian umbrella.
