As the world marks the International Women's Day, the International Labor Organization (ILO) office in Egypt voiced support for women's economic empowerment with the aim to achieve complete gender equality.
The director of the office in Cairo, Peter Van Rooij, said the celebrations this year coincide with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's announcement of women's year in 2017.
Data released by the UN clearly shows that women around the world represent more than 65% of all purchasing decisions, including houses, cars, and health.
Data also shows that if women worked at the same rate as men, GDP would expand substantially, estimated at 34% growth in Egypt.
International Women's Day (originally called International Working Women's Day) is celebrated on 8 March every year.
