The Health Centre at the American University in Dubai (AUD) celebrated the “World Health Day” by setting medical checkup booths on campus. Students, faculty and staff from the university assembled throughout the day to learn about the associated risks of an unhealthy lifestyle and the protective methods applied for a better and healthier living. On the importance of organising awareness campaigns related to preventive illnesses, Nelly Halabi, director of the AUD Health Centre, commented: “Our mission is to prevent illness and to maintain the wellbeing of staff and students. We are constantly organising awareness activities related to diseases that we can prevent. Even during this century, there are people who are still dying from preventive illnesses. Our students are the future, therefore our role is to educate them and provide them with proper awareness to help us reduce the number of deaths related to preventive illnesses around the world.” Free check-ups Licensed physicians and practitioners from Dr Nicholas & ASP Clinic offered free dental checkups.
