Zaloom says in an interview with Arabs Today that he began his career of sand painting 20 years ago. He added that his friend taught him the basics of the profession and how to use the colored sand.

Zaloom said that he uses natural colors produce different shapes of sand bottles.

Creative designs, mostly inspired by local scenes and camels grew in popularity during 1940s. The decorated bottles found from that period of time tell us that.
