Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has taken over at the top of the standings after his superb victory in Malaysia. The Ferrari star drove a controlled race to hold off Sauber\'s Sergio Perez, with Lewis Hamilton in third place for McLaren. Hamilton\'s teammate Jenson Button, who won the season-opener in Australia, was out of the points at Sepang. Two-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel also missed out for Red Bull after a late puncture. He is bidding for a hat-trick of world titles, hoping to repeat the feat of seven-time champion Michael Schumacher and 1950s legend Juan Manuel Fangio. 2012 Drivers\' standings after second round in Malaysia: 1.
