Leeds United have offered captain Robert Snodgrass a new contract giving the midfielder the chance to become the club\'s highest paid player. The 24-year-old\'s current deal is to expire at the end of next season, with the West Yorkshire side keen to retain their star man. Manager Neil Warnock has revealed that Snodgrass will stay as captain for next season and believes he could be the catalyst for winning promotion to the Premier League. Loyalty He told the club\'s official website: \"We\'ve offered him a top contract that will make him the highest paid player at the club. \"I want him to be our captain next year and I\'ve asked him to give us a year to get Leeds United into the Premier League and if we don\'t get there at the end of next season, I\'ll get him there myself because I\'ll help him and let him go. \"It would be a massive step forward for Rob for him to nail his colours to the mast. I think he loves the club and has a lot of loyalty, and as captain I think he will support us in what we are trying to do.\" Leeds have also revealed that Aidy White will be offered new terms and they are still in negotiations with Ross McCormack and Adam Clayton. Meanwhile, Snodgrass has admitted that it has not been easy to cope with losing a vast amount of home games this season. They have now been beaten 10 times at Elland Road, including a 5-0 loss to Blackpool and a 7-3 reverse against Nottingham Forest. But the Scotland international is determined to change his side\'s fortunes and wants the fans to be optimistic heading into the new season. Difficult He said: \"It\'s always difficult because at Elland Road you\'re usually talking about winning games, but it hasn\'t been that way this season. \"Hopefully we can put that right over the last two games against Leicester and Peterborough and give the fans something to shout about. But until that\'s done we can\'t put our finger on what hasn\'t gone right. \"There\'s massive frustration. We\'ve had a massive chance (of the play-offs) and we haven\'t taken them. \"(Warnock) is confident because he knows the Championship and he knows the players he can bring in to take us to the next level. \"I\'ve spoken to him and all he is talking about is how we shouldn\'t be in this position because of some of the performances. He knows there\'s positive signs and with his ambition and drive he could take us to the next level. \"Of course everyone wants to be a part of it because Leeds is the place to be and getting this club back to the Premier League would mean something special.\"
